Christmas markets in Sussex County, NJ run from early November through December 2026, with seven confirmed holiday markets in Sparta, Sandyston, Vernon, Augusta, Lafayette and Stillwater. Our team pulled every date, time and address from each organizer’s own page so you can plan your holiday shopping close to home.

The list runs in date order, from the first market of the season to the big German Christmas Market in December. Most are free to walk in, and each one leans on local makers, farms and small businesses.

1. The Homestead’s Holiday Market, Sparta (Nov. 7)

The season starts on Saturday, Nov. 7, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at The Homestead Rest, 294 North Church Road in Sparta. NJ Mama Events is bringing more than 40 local vendors, and admission is free, with a rain date of Sunday, Nov. 8. Details are on the event page, and our guide to The Homestead’s Holiday Market covers what to expect.

2. Peters Valley Handmade Holiday Event, Sandyston (Nov. 14 to Dec. 31)

The Peters Valley Gallery at 19 Kuhn Road in Layton turns into a holiday shop of handmade gifts from craft artists, opening at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 14, and running through Dec. 31, when it closes at 6 p.m. Admission is free. See the Peters Valley event page for gallery hours.

3. Holiday Market at Cobblestone Village, Vernon (Nov. 21)

Vernon Township lists a Holiday Market at Cobblestone Village on Saturday, Nov. 21, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. It is a compact, morning-into-lunch market in the heart of Vernon, an easy stop before or after a trip up the mountain. Find it on the Vernon Township news and events page.

4. Skylands Stadium Christmas Village, Augusta (Nov. 21 to Dec. 30)

Skylands Stadium at 94 Championship Place in Augusta hosts a free walk-in Christmas Village on select nights from Nov. 21 through Dec. 30, with vendors, a light tunnel and photos with Santa. The drive-through light show is separate, at $29 per carload, and is booked online through the Skylands Stadium light show page.

5. Christmas Village and Small Business Saturday, Lafayette (Nov. 28)

The Shoppes at Lafayette, 75 Route 15, celebrates Small Business Saturday on Nov. 28 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. with a Christmas Village of local vendors and food, photos with Santa from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. and a lighting at 5 p.m. The Shoppes also plans a Holiday Farmer’s Market from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Dec. 13 or Dec. 20, depending on the weather, and a Holiday Sip and Shop on Thursday, Dec. 17, from 5 to 8 p.m. Check The Shoppes at Lafayette website for updates.

6. Fairview Fest Holiday Market, Stillwater (Nov. 28)

Also on Saturday, Nov. 28, Fairview Fest fills Fairview Lake YMCA Camps at 1035 Fairview Lake Road in Stillwater from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is free, local vendors set up across camp and food is sold on site. The camp follows up with a tree lighting on Friday, Dec. 4, from 5 to 7 p.m. See the Fairview Lake YMCA community page.

7. German Christmas Market of NJ, Augusta (Dec. 4 to 6)

The biggest market of the season marks its 25th year at the Sussex County Fairgrounds, 37 Plains Road in Augusta, from Friday, Dec. 4, through Sunday, Dec. 6. Hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. Admission is $10, $7 for seniors, and free for veterans and kids 12 and under. Tickets and vendor details are on the German Christmas Market of NJ website, and our German Christmas Market guide goes deeper.

Tips for Christmas Market Season

Bring a sturdy tote and some cash, since small vendors do not always take cards. Several of these markets are outdoors or partly outdoors, so dress in layers for a Sussex County afternoon. If you want to stack two markets in one day, Nov. 28 works well: the Lafayette Christmas Village and Fairview Fest are a short drive apart, and the Lafayette lighting at 5 p.m. makes a nice finish.
