Peters Valley School of Craft will hold its 2026 Handmade Holiday Event from Saturday, Nov. 14 through Thursday, Dec. 31 at the Peters Valley Gallery, 19 Kuhn Road in Layton (Sandyston Township). For the season, the gallery expands onto its second floor and fills it with new handmade work from artists, from jewelry to home decor.
The event opens Nov. 14 at 11 a.m. and runs through 6 p.m. on New Year’s Eve, according to the Peters Valley event listing. It is a good fit for anyone who wants holiday gifts made by working artists instead of pulled off a big box shelf.
What to Expect at the Handmade Holiday Event

Peters Valley describes the annual event as a winter wonderland of craft, with the gallery “once again” expanded to the second floor to make room for new work. The first floor shop carries contemporary American craft year round, including decorative and functional pottery, jewelry, glass, wood, wearable fiber art, photography, toys and books, and the sales staff can help you find a gift in any budget.
The second floor is normally home to the Sally D. Francisco Gallery, which hosts rotating curated exhibits. There is no charge for admission to the gallery, and Peters Valley says proceeds from gallery sales support independent working artists and the educational programs at the school.
Hours, Location and Accessibility
The Peters Valley Gallery is open Tuesday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. from May through December and is closed on Mondays. The gallery sits at 19 Kuhn Road in Layton, inside the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, where Peters Valley has run its craft school since 1970.
Note that the second floor is reachable only by stairs. Peters Valley says a gallery representative can help visitors who need accommodations, and asks that you call ahead at 973-948-5202. In bad weather, the school also asks visitors to call to be sure the gallery is open, and it posts holiday and weather closures on the Peters Valley Gallery website, which also runs an online shop.
