Sparta United Methodist Church will host its annual Art Show and Sale on Saturday, November 14, 2026, from 10 AM to 4 PM. The show takes place at the church at 71 S. Sparta Avenue in Sparta, NJ, and brings together local artists of all ages, from newcomers to well-known names, with original work for sale.
Admission is free and open to the public, and every artist will be on hand throughout the day to talk about their work. With the holidays coming up, our team sees this as an easy way to find one-of-a-kind gifts close to home while supporting artists who live and work in our area.
What to Expect at the Sparta Art Show and Sale
The church describes this as a multidisciplinary show. Visitors can browse and buy a wide range of work, including paintings, photography, glass art, ceramics, cards and more. The event flyer, titled “The Art of Giving,” also lists prints and jewelry among the work on display.
Every artist will be present for the full day to show their work and answer questions, so it is a good chance to learn how a piece was made or meet the person behind a painting you have admired. All art will be available to take home the same day, so there is no waiting on pickup or shipping.

Gifts for the Holidays and Beyond
The organizers point out that the show is a great place to pick up unique holiday, birthday, hostess and housewarming gifts. A small ceramic piece, a framed photograph of a local scene or a set of handmade cards makes a thoughtful gift, and buying directly from the artist keeps that support right here in Sussex County.
A Mix of New and Seasoned Local Artists
The show is led by Carolyn Hartley, the church’s programs coordinator and an award-winning artist whose work has been shown in California, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Tennessee. Hartley says she has been inspired by the exceptional artists in the area.
“As an artist myself, I thought it would be great to invite new local artists to participate in this show, as well as the more seasoned artists,” said Hartley.
The event was so well received by the community a few years ago that Hartley and her committee decided to make it an annual show and sale. This year’s lineup again spans a wide range of ages and experience.
“We received applications from artists of all ages, so we’re anticipating another impressive show,” said Hartley. “And we have a few local artists participating whose work is fairly well known.”
Proceeds Support Local Young People
All proceeds from the show will benefit educational programs and community-building opportunities for young people. That means a gift bought here does double duty: it supports a local artist and it helps the church’s work with kids and teens in the community.
