Apple and pumpkin picking in Sussex County looks different this fall: a late spring freeze has shortened the apple season at several farms, while pumpkin patches, hayrides and corn mazes are opening across the county. We pulled together five farms with addresses and what each offers, and we note where the 2026 season is limited.
Heaven Hill Farm, Vernon
Heaven Hill Farm, 451 State Route 94, Vernon, is home to the Great Pumpkin Festival, which runs from September 12 through November 8, 2026. Admission covers more than 35 activities including hayrides, a corn maze, farm animals and pig races, and pumpkin picking is part of the fall fun. Weekend tickets start at $24.99 online. Windy Brow Farms, Newton
Windy Brow Farms, 359 Ridge Road, Newton, is a longtime apple stop, but the farm says its 2026 crop was hurt by spring temperature swings and a late freeze. It expects a very abbreviated pick-your-own season and is not booking group trips, though apples stay on sale in the farm store daily. When picking is open, the orchards run Thursday through Sunday, 9 AM to 5 PM. Check the Windy Brow website before you drive out.
Sussex County Strawberry Farm, Andover
Sussex County Strawberry Farm, 565 Route 206 North, Andover, opens for pick-your-own pumpkins the first week of October and offers hayrides on weekends that month. The farm also sells local apples, mums, cider and carving supplies. We could not confirm 2026 hours, so call (973) 579-5055 first, or see the farm’s pumpkin page.
Lentini Farms, Newton
Lentini Farms, 251 High Street in Newton, holds its Fall Fest October 2 through October 25, 2026, with a corn maze, sunflower fields, pumpkin picking, hayrides and live music. Friday and Saturday nights also feature haunted hayrides. Tickets are available through the Lentini Farms website.
Tranquillity Farms, Green Township
Tranquillity Farms, 47 Decker Pond Road, Green Township, runs fall activities through the end of October from 10 AM to 5 PM, including hayrides and a corn maze. The farm warns that apple picking may not be available every day this year because of frost damage. Its fall activities page lists the current schedule.
