About Puss N Boots
Norah Jones, Sasha Dobson and Catherine Popper formed Puss N Boots in 2008. The group began as a way for Jones and Dobson to play music together and try new things, and Popper joined on bass shortly after. The trio played New York clubs with a repertoire rooted in Americana, country, folk, pop and rock, and the band became a place for all three to switch instruments and show a different side of themselves than in their solo work.
In 2013 Puss N Boots signed with Blue Note Records, and its debut album, No Fools, No Fun, came out in the summer of 2014, mixing originals and covers with studio and live recordings. In 2019 the trio performed Dolly Parton’s “The Grass Is Blue” at the MusiCares event honoring Parton as Person of the Year. Later that year the band released the holiday album Dear Santa, followed by its second full-length album, Sister, in 2020.
About the Newton Theatre
The Newton Theatre is run by the Skylands Performing Arts Center, a nonprofit that books concerts, comedy and family shows on Spring Street in downtown Newton. A Sunday night show by a group led by a Grammy-winning star is a big get for the venue, and the room is small enough that every seat is close to the stage. The box office can be reached at 973-940-6398 or ticketing@skypac.org.
Fans who know the band’s Dear Santa album will recognize the easy, harmony-heavy sound, and a Sunday evening start makes it simple to catch the show and still be home at a reasonable hour.
