The holiday shows, one by one
Twelve Twenty Four, Tribute to Trans-Siberian Orchestra (Sunday, Nov. 29)
The season starts the Sunday after Thanksgiving with what SKYPAC calls a high-energy, full-scale holiday rock orchestra concert of rock-edged holiday music. If you grew up on Trans-Siberian Orchestra’s Christmas shows, this is the one. Doors 6 p.m., show 7 p.m. It also closes out our Newton Theatre November 2026 lineup. Event page.
Christmas with the Celts (Friday, Dec. 4)
The venue describes Christmas with the Celts as a beloved PBS holiday spectacular that combines Irish carols with fiery dancers. Doors 7 p.m., show 8 p.m. Event page.
Sara Evans, The Holiday Road Tour (Saturday, Dec. 5)
Multi-platinum country star Sara Evans, who the venue notes has five No. 1 singles and the ACM Top Female Vocalist award, brings her limited holiday tour to Newton with special guest Braden Hull. Newton is one of 10 cities on the 2026 run. Doors 7 p.m., show 8 p.m. Event page.
Squirrel Nut Zippers, Christmas Caravan (Thursday, Dec. 10)
SKYPAC bills this as a festive, high-energy holiday concert where vintage jazz, New Orleans swing and speakeasy spirit collide. The Christmas Caravan tour takes its name from the band’s 1998 holiday album. Doors 7 p.m., show 8 p.m. Event page.
Steven Page Trio (Saturday, Dec. 12)
The former Barenaked Ladies singer plays holiday favorites, new originals and well-loved hits from his career, per the venue listing. Doors 7 p.m., show 8 p.m. Event page.
Rocky Mountain Christmas, A John Denver Tribute featuring Ted Vigil (Sunday, Dec. 13)
Ted Vigil is a John Denver tribute artist, and this matinee pairs Denver’s songs with a holiday theme. The 3 p.m. start makes it one of the most family-friendly times on the calendar. Doors 2 p.m., show 3 p.m. Event page.
The Rascals, Rockin’ the Holidays (Thursday, Dec. 17)
The Rascals are Rock and Roll Hall of Famers and, as the venue puts it, the greatest blue-eyed soul group of the 1960s, with 17 Top 20 hits. This show folds those hits into a holiday set. Note the earlier time: doors 6 p.m., show 7 p.m. Event page.
Top of the World, A Carpenters Christmas Show (Sunday, Dec. 20)
The last holiday show before Christmas is a Carpenters tribute built around a vocalist with a striking resemblance to Karen Carpenter, per the venue. It is a Sunday matinee, with doors at 2 p.m. and the show at 3 p.m. Event page.
Also on the December calendar
Two non-holiday shows fill out December: The Wood Brothers with Tyler Ramsey on Sunday, Dec. 6 (doors 6 p.m., show 7 p.m.) and From Good Homes for two nights on Friday, Dec. 18 and Saturday, Dec. 19 (doors 7 p.m., show 8 p.m.).
Plan a holiday weekend around a show
The first weekend of December is the busiest. Christmas with the Celts (Friday, Dec. 4) and Sara Evans (Saturday, Dec. 5) fall on the same weekend as the German Christmas Market of New Jersey at the Sussex County Fairgrounds in Augusta, so you can pair a daytime market visit with an evening concert. If you are giving back this season, see how to help with the NORWESCAP Winter Wonderland Toy Drive.
Before the show, dinner is a short walk away. Our guide to where to eat in Newton NJ covers six restaurants on Spring Street, several on the same block as the theatre.
