Sterling Hill Mining Museum will host its Fall Mineral Festival on Saturday, October 10, 2026, from 9 AM to 5 PM at 30 Plant Street in Ogdensburg. The one day show brings dealers, collectors and rockhounds together, with a focus on the fluorescent minerals the Franklin and Sterling Hill mining district is known for.
Dealer tables are expected to offer minerals, fossils, meteorites, fluorescents, crystals, gems and books, according to the listing from vendor Sacred Earth, which will run a table with minerals, fossils, crystals, lapidary pieces and stone carvings. The festival is organized by DDR Enterprises. The museum’s own special events page lists the date and hours, and the Sacred Earth event page describes the show.
Festival admission is not published on either page, so we cannot give a price. The museum can be reached at 973-209-7212 or info@shmmuseum.org for details. For reference, the museum’s regular tour admission is $15 for adults 13 and older, $14 for seniors 65 and older, $13 for children 4 to 12, and $5 for children under 4. That is the price of the standard tour, not necessarily the festival.
The museum itself is worth the trip. Its tour covers three parts: the Zobel Hall Museum, the mine and the Warren Museum of Fluorescence, and takes about two hours. Tours are guided, not self-guided, and the mine is 56 degrees Fahrenheit, so bring a jacket. The museum also offers rock collecting on the Mine Run Dump and sluicing, which is a better choice for children. Details are on the museum’s tour page.
We could not confirm the tour schedule for October 10, so call ahead if you want to combine the festival with a walk underground. The gift shop and snack bar are part of the museum’s facilities.
Our advice is to arrive early for the best selection at the dealer tables and wear sturdy shoes if you plan to collect on the dump. Ogdensburg is a short drive from Franklin, where the Franklin Mineral Museum also focuses on the district’s minerals.
