Ten-time Grammy winner Asleep at the Wheel brings Western swing to the Newton Theatre on Sunday, October 18, 2026, with doors at 6 p.m. and the concert at 7 p.m. at 234 Spring Street in Newton. Reserved seating starts at $52.50, and tickets are on sale through the Newton Theatre event page.
According to Skylands Performing Arts Center (SkyPAC), which operates the Newton Theatre, Ray Benson and Asleep at the Wheel have spent more than 50 years as ambassadors of Western swing. The Newton Theatre listing puts the band on the downtown Newton stage for one night this October, a few days after our team’s mid-month fall calendar peaks.
Who Is Playing
Asleep at the Wheel is led by front man Ray Benson. The venue’s show page and the Newton Theatre’s August 2026 announcement describe a career that includes more than 30 albums, 10 Grammy awards, and decades of touring that introduced Western swing to new audiences. More than 100 musicians have passed through the band over the years, with Benson remaining the constant on stage.
Expect the mix of swing, country, blues, and classic American roots music that the band is known for. The Newton Theatre is a seated venue at 234 Spring Street, so this is a sit-down concert night rather than a festival lawn show.

More Newton Theatre Nights Around the Same Stretch
If Western swing is your sound, October is a strong music week downtown. SkyPAC’s calendar also lists the Artimus Pyle Band honoring Lynyrd Skynyrd on Saturday, October 17 (doors 7 p.m., show 8 p.m.), and Dirty Deeds, an AC/DC experience, on Saturday, October 24 (doors 7 p.m., show 8 p.m.). Those are separate ticketed shows on the same stage.
Looking further ahead, the Newton Theatre’s holiday lineup includes Sara Evans on December 5 and other Christmas concerts later in the month. For now, October 18 is the Asleep at the Wheel date to lock in.
