Looking for breweries in Sussex County NJ? As of fall 2026, our team confirmed three taprooms brewing and pouring their own beer inside the county through their own websites: Krogh’s Restaurant & Brew Pub in Sparta, Angry Erik Brewing in Hampton Township and Vernon Brewing in Vernon. Each one has a very different feel, from a log cabin brewpub on Lake Mohawk to a country brewery with wood fired pizza.
Below are the addresses, posted hours and what each spot offers, taken from their own websites. One quick note before you plan: several breweries that come up in “Sussex County” searches are actually in Hackettstown, which is in Warren County, so we have left those out. Sussex County’s craft beer scene keeps changing, so if you know a local brewery we missed, let us know.
Breweries in Sussex County NJ, town by town
Krogh’s Restaurant & Brew Pub, Sparta
Krogh’s Restaurant & Brew Pub is at 23 White Deer Plaza in Sparta, right in the Lake Mohawk business district. It is the longest running of the three, licensed as a brewery since 1999, and it pours its own handcrafted beers alongside guest beers.
What to expect: a full restaurant with a cozy log cabin interior in a historic building. Its website has separate food, kids and dessert menus, so this is the easiest brewery pick for families or for a group that wants a full sit down meal.
Hours: per the Krogh’s website as of fall 2026, 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., seven days a week.
Phone: 973-729-8428.
Worth knowing: Krogh’s hosts the annual Krogh’s Turkey Trot, which its website says is celebrating 20 years with a 5K run and walk and a 1 mile fun run on Thursday, November 26 (Thanksgiving Day). Check the site for registration details.

Angry Erik Brewing, Hampton Township
Angry Erik Brewing describes itself as located right off the Paulinskill Valley Trail in Hampton Township, just outside Newton. That trail location makes it a natural stop after a walk or bike ride on the rail trail.
What to expect: a taproom with a tasting room menu posted on its website, plus events that the brewery lists as live music, food trucks and more.
Hours: the hours on Angry Erik’s website are currently labeled as holiday hours, so check their site for the current taproom schedule before you go. As posted, the taproom is closed Monday through Wednesday.
Contact: the website uses a contact form rather than a listed phone number.

A brewery road trip across the county
The three breweries sit in different corners of Sussex County, so a single day can cover a lot of ground. One approach is to start with a fall hike, then work your way to a taproom. Our guide to fall foliage hikes in Sussex County has trail ideas in every part of the county.
If wine is more your style, Sussex County also has farm wineries, including Ventimiglia Vineyard in Wantage, which lists open tastings on Saturdays and Sundays in the 2026 season per its website.
