The Sussex County Oratorio Society invites singers and music lovers to Handel’s Messiah Sing-Along on Sunday, November 8, 2026, at 3 PM at Christ Church, 62 Main Street in Newton. The afternoon event is a community sing of Handel’s Messiah, and tickets are sold through the Oratorio Society’s upcoming concert page.
Our team is covering it as a low-cost, welcoming way to start the holiday music season in downtown Newton.
When and Where
The sing-along is Sunday, November 8 at 3 PM at Christ Church on Main Street in Newton. The Sussex County Oratorio Society lists the event on its upcoming concert page, with tickets available online. Questions can go to sussexoratorio@gmail.com or 917-921-7387.
Bring your own Messiah score if you have one, or follow along as a listener. The Oratorio Society has been presenting choral concerts in Sussex County since 1952 and welcomes both experienced choristers and first-time sing-along guests.
Tickets
Tickets for the Messiah Sing-Along are sold through the Oratorio Society’s Zeffy ticketing link from the upcoming concert page. Adult tickets are listed at $10. The same page also lists the Oratorio Society’s Songs of the Season concert on Sunday, December 6, 2026, at 3 PM at Christ Church, conducted by Jeanette Hile.
Because this is a community sing-along rather than a formal ticketed gala, the price point is meant to keep the doors open to families and neighbors who want to sing the Christmas portion of Messiah together.
Make an Afternoon of It in Newton
Christ Church sits on Main Street, so you can combine the sing-along with lunch or coffee downtown before the 3 PM start. Street parking and nearby lots make a short walk to the church realistic if you arrive a little early.
If you are already in Newton for evening music, the Newton Theatre’s Puss N Boots show is the same night a few blocks away. For more November and December dates, see our November things to do in Sussex County guide and our Christmas events in Sussex County calendar.
